the internets, social media, what's it to you?

I am taking a bit of a break from the internet, for a lot of reasons, and trying to figure out how I feel about it. Mostly, I've taken a break from my personal Facebook. I got carried away, lost my temper over something silly (a misunderstanding really), and then got to thinking about the internet, social media, and its hold and influence on my life.

I've been without Facebook for almost six days now, I think? And I'm coming to terms with the weird boredom and depression that's taken over since then. I'm noticing more during my day how often it was just a reflex when bored, distracted, or even tired, to click over to Facebook to se, what's going on, and what's up with my "friends," and it doesn't do anything but fill certain bits of time and fill a void in my day therefore. So I'm not sure what I'm missing, or if I'm missing anything at all?

So what's it to you? I'm especially interested in hearing from other musicians and the blurring of the lines between our professional social lives and our personal social lives. How do you cope with it all? What choices do you make when dealing with your relationship to the internet? Do you have coping skills, haha? Share any tips that you've got with me, please...
